Dr. Darlene Viggiano , LMFT

Dr. Darlene Viggiano is a licensed clinician with a long history of work in psychology and family therapy. She earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology from Saybrook University in 2010 after completing a Master’s in Psychology at National University in 1995, and she has maintained a professional license since 1999. As an experienced practitioner she has served as an Intensive Outpatient Program clinician, case manager, and clinical lead supervisor, bringing both hands-on and supervisory experience to complex clinical settings.

She has trained paraprofessionals and students in therapeutic methods for addressing abuse, addiction, and related clinical concerns. Over the course of her practice she has worked with adults molested as children, facilitated batterers’ intervention, supported clients with dual diagnosis, and addressed issues such as infidelity and perinatal substance abuse. Her clinical work has also included anger management, couples communication, clinical hypnosis, and mindful movement practices.

Dr. Viggiano holds certification in clinical hypnosis from the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis and earlier completed certification in the Duluth Model for batterers’ intervention. She has presented workshops in Jungian and transpersonal psychology and is the author of two academic books: Dreams and Dream-like Experiences: Their role in spiritual emergence processes, and Carrying On: A workbook for women who’ve lost a pregnancy. She is a member of the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis and the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, and she has previously been active with the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis and the American Psychological Association Division 30, which honored her with an Early Career Contribution Award.
